Other secular reasons not to vote for (Liberal) Mitt Romney

As I stated in my post giving a secular reason not to elect Mitt Romney,

while this blog is mostly focused on the spiritual, psychological and legal reasons you don't want Mormon Mitt Romney for President (he's Mormon, so he cannot truly support Christian (Conservative) values; he's in a cult, so of questionable mind; and he's sworn an oath to his church that can conflict with an oath of office), there are other reasons that Conservatives should reject Mitt Romney for President.

In this particular post, I'll refer you to what a group from Massachusetts documents. You Mormons reading this should be happy - there's nothing about Mormonism in their study. You other critics should be happy too - it's written by those who lived under Romney. Your beef is with them, not me.

Since it's a longish document and I doubt many of you will read past the first page or two, and since I doubt Hugh Hewitt will mention any of this when he tells you 10 Things Every Conservative Should Know about Mitt Romney, I've included some excerpts below, with a few comments by me.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Despite recent statements across the country by Governor Mitt Romney claiming he's pro-life, pro-family and a committed conservative, a broad investigation of his actual statements, actions, and public positions over the years indicates that he has spent his entire career speaking and governing as a liberal – and that his new found conversion to conservatism very likely coincides with his candidacy for the presidency.

[This is what Dick Morris concluded this week too.]

The information in this report is gleaned from public records, press accounts, internet web sites and research (as well as personal observation) by my organization, MassResistance, a grass-roots pro-family group that has observed Governor Romney for over a decade.

[That is, they're true Conservatives.]

We believe this report is necessary due to a calculated effort by the Romney campaign to revise his history and portray the Governor as far more conservative than the record indicates. Already, the Governor's staff is making appointments with the nation's leading conservative leaders to convince them that he should be the standard bearer for the conservative movement in the upcoming presidential elections.

[Like Hugh Hewitt and Michael Medved?]

We have also been alarmed by misleading and glowing accounts about Romney which have appeared in the conservative media over the past year. The fact that these articles were based upon sloppy research and material supplied by the Romney camp gave us great incentive to set the record straight.

[K-Lo in love with Mitt Romney? A prophecy about Mr. Hewitt's book?]

One of the few conservative publications to expose Romney's liberalism is the conservative weekly Human Events which (in a 2005 article) listed Romney at number eight on its list of "Top Ten Republicans in Name Only (RINOs)."

[I was gratified to find this report AFTER yesterday's post, confirming my independent observation that Mormons in general, and Mitt Romney specifically, are RINO's. I'm glad someone else on the right sees it too.]

Indeed, this report will demonstrate that Romney was probably the most pro-abortion and pro-gay rights Republican official in the nation for the last decade. The idea that he has suddenly become a conservative after a decade of liberal actions and statements would be merely amusing were it not for the fact that he's running for the presidency and that many conservatives are falling for this act.

But this is consistent with Mormonism. Polygamy forbidden, then okay, then put on hold. Blacks can't inherit the priesthood, now they can. I'm trying to tell you that you cannot separate a man's spiritual beliefs from who he is and what he does. I've been trying to warn you. Now I'll let Mr. Camenker warn you. (And Josh too at romneyisaliberal.)

Don't fall for Mitt Romney's act. His training started when he went to the Missionary Training Center and learned to "Establish Commonality of Beliefs," like the natural, Bill Clinton, learning to tell you what you wanted to hear. (I have the tapes from the MTC.) He's been constantly practicing since then. You do not want Mormon Mitt Romney for President. Actions speak louder than words. He is not who - or what - he says he is.
