Mormon Mitt Romney is No Catholic John Kennedy (round 2)

Mitt Romney not equal to John Kennedy

IF NOTHING ELSE,

CATHOLICS DON'T SWEAR AN OATH TO THEIR CHURCH!!!

All the news that fits is hard to print.

I'm frantically trying to catch up with all the Romney news this past week. FoxNews Sunday, Hugh Hewitt, Michael Medved, Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly. Whew! For now, this entry will have to do. (Hacking around for hours with a photo paint program to make the cute Mitt Romney photo isn't helping matters.)

Confirmed on FoxNews Sunday (February 11), Mormon Mitt Romney is obfuscating about his allegiances — whether to the Mormon church or not — by invoking John Kennedy.  As I've said before, I didn't know John Kennedy, but Mitt Romney is no John Kennedy.

Reporters: Ask Mitt Romney this question

Mr. Romney: Did you swear an oath to your church?

Here's what church President Gordon B. Hinckley recently said about loyalty:

Did you know they call the head of their church "The President?" Which "president" will you be electing if you elect Mitt Romney for President?

Now may I say a word concerning loyalty to the Church. We see much indifference. There are those who say, 'The Church won't dictate to me how to think about this, that, or the other, or how to live my life.'

The Church will not dictate to any man, but it will counsel, it will persuade, it will urge, and it will expect loyalty from those who profess membership therein."

I make you a promise, my dear brethren, that while I am serving in my present responsibility I will never consent to nor advocate any policy, any program, any doctrine which will be otherwise than beneficial to the membership of this, the Lord's Church.

This is His work. He established it. He has revealed its doctrine. He has outlined its practices. He created its government. It is His work and His kingdom, and He has said, "They who are not for me are against me" (2 Nephi 10:16)."

Nephi? Who in h*ll is Nephi? (That's from the Book of Mormon.) Why didn't he quote Matthew or Luke from the Bible instead? [Ans: Because Mormons don't really venerate the Bible.]

On this occasion I am not going to talk about the good or bad of Prohibition but rather of uncompromising loyalty to the Church.

How grateful, my brethren, I feel, how profoundly grateful for the tremendous faith of so many Latter-day Saints who, when facing a major decision on which the Church has taken a stand, align themselves with that position. And I am especially grateful to be able to say that among those who are loyal are men and women of achievement, of accomplishment, of education, of influence, of strength-highly intelligent and capable individuals.

"President" (Not a REAL President) Gordon B. Hinckley. Loyalty, April Conference, 2003.
