A blog explaining why you don't want Mitt Romney for President

An actual sign from a Mormon event.
Does your church warn you to avoid unofficial church literature?
[Hint: The Watchtower Society (a.k.a. Jehovah's Witnesses) does.
And everyone knows the JW's are a cult. Therefore... ]

Reviewing my purpose

This being my 50th post on this blog, and blogs not being the best paradigm for repositories of information, it seemed good to me to restate, and perhaps refine, my purpose here.

As if it wasn't obvious from the title of the blog, you do not want a Mormon for President. In this case, that would be Mormon Mitt Romney.

Nothing personal against Mitt Romney, per se, although as we learn more about him, there are secular reasons, outside of Mormonism, you don't want him for President. (Like, he's a Liberal, although that, too, is an inherent part of Mormonism.)

But most of the reasons are intricately related to and intertwined with his religion. (Mormonism is a cult.) You do not want ANY Mormon for President. There are lots of reasons why—some subtle, some not. I've linked some main ones below for your convenience. You can click and skip ahead or continue reading.

My Jerry Fletcher problem

I feel a bit like Jerry Fletcher, the cab driver in Mel Gibson's Conspiracy Theory movie. Unless you live in Utah or other Mormon enclave—or have been Mormon yourself—it's difficult to explain to outsiders why you don't want a Mormon for President. It's difficult to explain how mind controlled Mormons are without sounding like a conspiratorial nut. But that's one of my purposes. To educate you about the Mormon mindset as someone who's worked with them for a long while now and observed how things work in Utah and other Mormon enclaves. (Mesa, AZ; Snowflake, AZ; Las Vegas, NV (they're taking over))

I've never been Mormon, but I know many who have. It's fascinating to hear their stories about the subtle mind control nature of their former religion. How, for example, they heard the same words repeated over and over again. (Ever been to a "Fast & Testimony" Meeting?) Even the music at their events is carefully chosen, evoking memories of Primary.

But just as in Conspiracy Theory, just because I may seem like a nut doesn't mean you shouldn't heed my warning. I've done a better job of citing my facts than Jerry Fletcher did. Fortunately, some newspapers on the Left and Right see conspiracies too, so I'm not alone.
But as with so many matters in Utah, the power behind the putsch—some five years in the making—was the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints [a.k.a. Mormon church]. Working secretly to avoid a public backlash, the Mormon church wielded its clout to vanquish a publishing family that church leaders have long regarded as hostile to Mormons...

'I'm always suspicious,' Macfarlane said of the church's influence over the new managers. 'They have a lot of power.'

A Muslim would understand the Mormon mindset

It has nothing to do with their religion, per se. I wrote that on my first blog entry, but as I've developed this more, I see that is has EVERYTHING to do with their religion. To us as Americans, it's very subtle and we don't quite understand it, since we're buying the "separation of Church and State" lie. But if you were a Muslim in the Mid-East, you would understand. Your religion affects every part of your life, including your law and politics. (For example, the Muslim woman murdered last week for not wearing a head covering?)

In this respect, Mormons put Christians to shame. For most Christians, myself included, are not nearly as zealous as Mormons are. (They don't call Utah The Beehive State for nothing. Which is somewhat insightful, except they don't have a Queen Bee. They have a King Bee. All the rest are workers.)

Of course, my salvation doesn't depend on my working for (earning) it, whereas a Mormon's does. (Although if I'm really saved, I should be exuding good works from God. (Romans 12:1-2 and James 2:14-17 in the Bible) Not an excuse for lousy stewardship of my time, but explains why Mormons work so hard. They have to do "all they can do" if they have any hope of becoming a god someday. Explains part of Mitt Romney's drive.

Politics and Religion?

There's a goofy mentality going around on the Right that we shouldn't care about a man's religion. [Although Michael Medved has (correctly) acknowledged he wouldn't vote for a Muslim or a Scientologist, proving religion matters. He's inconsistent about Mitt Romney and doesn't want to hear about it.] It's gotten so perverse on the Right that there's a Leftist "Affirmative Action" mentality that "didn't we go through all this with John Kennedy?" and like some minority group, we should elect Mitt Romney simply because he's Mormon and deserves a break.  But Mitt Romney is no John Kennedy.

Bringing up religion is fair game anyway, because Mitt Romney has made it so. HE is the one who, sua sponte, mentions "god" as a unifying theme in American culture. But when you talk about God, does "Kolob" come to mind? Even the Osmond's - as in Donny - sang about it. Mitt Romney is the one who is always talking about his "brand" of faith, as if it's okay to elect a Radical Muslim or an overt Satan worshipper for President. Just as long as he's sincere in his faith.

Yeah, right. (I'll mention in a later post what Joseph Smith said about YOUR faith.)

Also, this is a matter of character. And character DOES matter. You can't know a man's character unless you look into his soul to see what drives him. There's a lot about Mormonism most Americans don't know. Like, are there any reasons unique to Mormonism that might compel his wife to stay married to him? Like, maybe she can't become a goddess unless he calls her out of the grave?

Even if the Mormon church disavowed their temple oath, which is a defacto legal disqualification for office, it's still a cult and you do NOT want a cultist for President of the United States. You just don't know what they're thinking and what motivates them. Or who's calling the shots. It leads to strange, unpredictable behavior.

Finally, I'll admit this is a one-sided blog. I'm against a Mormon in the White House. But you need to hear this, because all you'll get from Mitt Romney, Hugh Hewitt and Michael Medved is the positive spin. Don't you want to hear the side they won't tell you?

It's sad, but Mr. Hewitt, who claims to be a Christian, and is an elder in his church, has, in violation of Scripture, unequally yoked himself with Mitt Romney. While he continually protests too much that he's not endorsing Mitt Romney (after writing a glowing book about him?), he appears to be a shill for Mitt Romney.

Like Leftist Liberals, Mormons will belly ache and name call, but rarely supply facts to correct. In their typical cult fashion, they'll claim I'm "persecuting" them. By quoting their own documents?  In addition to the facts I link, their behavior should help you discern if you want a Mormon in the White House.

So this is the side of Mormonism that no one wants to tell you or talk about. But the Democrats will certainly get it out, albeit covertly via New Media, if Mitt Romney wins the Republican nomination. Best not to nominate him.

Now, here are the links from above.

Do you solemnly swear...?

All good Mormons, including Mitt Romney, continually rehearse and swear an oath of allegiance to their church in their temples.
You and each of you COVENANT AND PROMISE BEFORE GOD, angels, and these witnesses at this altar, that you do accept the Law of Consecration as contained in this, the Book of Doctrine and Covenants, in that you do consecrate yourselves, your time, talents, and EVERYTHING with which the Lord has blessed you, or with which he MAY BLESS you, TO THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, for the building up of the kingdom of god on the earth AND FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF ZION.

Double minded

Now, even the Mormon jesus is quoted as saying "No man can serve two masters." A Mormon will either have to serve his church OR his country. In Utah, that might be a distinction without a difference, but nonetheless, this oath of allegiance to the Mormon church disqualifies any Mormon for government office where an oath is required. If I recall correctly, even Kathryn Jean Lopez (KLo) of National Review Online said so when it came to the John Roberts Senate Confirmation hearings for Chief Justice. (When she substitute hosted on the Hugh Hewitt show.)

If Mormons in Utah want to compromise (and they do), I suppose they can vote Mormons into office. (And they predominately have.) But this is like electing a Fundamental Muslim for President. You KNOW that he would be "conflicted" despite his oath of office and you know what his agenda would be, even though he probably wouldn't level with you. (Allah comes first, the destruction of Israel and "death to the infidels" — to subvert our country, even if it meant his own death.)

It's not as clear what Mitt Romney's agenda is, except to help usher in a Mormon theocracy. (Perhaps by installing even more of his brothers and sisters in government and/or paving the way for other Mormons to save us.) I've documented some of the church's teaching, that, for example, he believes HE is the true Jew, and how that might affect any decisions regarding the nation of Israel. But for most Americans, it's not YOUR agenda.

Blood brothers?

But he won't tell you about his secret oath. Shouldn't he disclose that to voters? Heck, he won't even confirm he swore the oath.

See, he first took the oath when he went on his mission. That was pre-1990, before the church removed the death penalty part of the oath.

Back then, before the ceremony was changed, they were told that the penalty for revealing the secrets in the temple is death. Presumably by brother Mormons. Specifically, the penalty "is executed by placing the right thumb under the left ear, palm down, fingers close together. The thumb is drawn quickly across the throat to the right ear and the hand dropped to the side. THIS SIGNIFIES HAVING YOUR THROAT SLIT FROM EAR TO EAR AND YOUR TONGUE TORN OUT BY ITS ROOTS." As if that weren't enough, a second penalty "is executed by placing the right hand on the left breast, and drawing the hand quickly across the chest, then dropping both hands to the sides. This signifies having your chest ripped open and your heart and vitals torn out and fed to the beasts of the field and the fowls of the air."

Lots of Mormons have lied to me about this. And they equivocate, claiming their temple oath is "sacred, not secret."

"Whether it's sacred or not (it's an abomination to the God of the Bible), it IS secret.

But Jesus said, "in secret have I said nothing." (John 18:20)

And Mormons claim "The Book of Mormon is a "sacred" record of peoples in ancient America." And yet they promulgate this 'sacred' stuff all over the world. So it's okay to tell us about the 'sacred' temple ceremony since they talk about other sacred stuff.

Do you want someone who has sworn such an oath as your President? This is worse than Skull & Bones stuff! Those initiates take an death oath too, but not as seriously and, as far as we know, no one's been murdered for violating it. Whereas there have been Mormon Danites.

Who's calling please?

Then there's the matter of the Red Phone. When the Red Phone rings, will it be Salt Lake calling? From where will Mitt Romney get his orders?

You see, Mormons really, REALLY venerate their "prophet." You can download a high resolution photo of him from their website! Why would you want to do that unless you really thought he was something special? Think Muslims and their fanatical devotion to any spokesman for Mohammed.

They think this guy really speaks for God. In fact, when you read speeches by Mormon leaders at their General Conference, you see that the church and "the Lord" are synonymous. They are used interchangeably. When the church speaks, it's the same as God speaking.
Obedience is a fundamental law of the gospel. It is not only the demonstration of our faith but also the foundation of our faith. Unquestioning obedience to the Lord indicates that a person has developed faith and trust in Him to the point where he or she considers all inspired instruction — whether it be recorded scripture or the words of modern prophets — to be worthy of obedience.

- Elder Robert Oaks, "Believe All Things," Ensign, July 2005, page 30

On this occasion I am not going to talk about the good or bad of Prohibition but rather of uncompromising loyalty to the Church. How grateful, my brethren, I feel, how profoundly grateful for the tremendous faith of so many Latter-day Saints who, when facing a major decision on which the Church has taken a stand, align themselves with that position.

I make you a promise, my dear brethren, that while I am serving in my present responsibility I will never consent to nor advocate any policy, any program, any doctrine which will be otherwise than beneficial to the membership of this, the Lord's Church.

This is His work. He established it. He has revealed its doctrine. He has outlined its practices. He created its government. It is His work and His kingdom, and He has said, "They who are not for me are against me" (2 Nephi 10:16)."

"President" (Not a REAL President) Gordon B. Hinckley. Loyalty, April Conference, 2003.

"... and a fanatical devotion to the Pope."

[That subhead is a classic line from Monty Python for those who haven't seen the Spanish Inquisition sketches.]

It's hard for Christians—more so unbelievers—to really appreciate the mindless devotion Mormons have to their leadership, which is synonymous with "the church." That's why we say it's a cult. See the signage at the top of this post and ask yourself, if they have the truth, what are they so afraid of? While I can understand your church telling you to stay away from pornography, that's not the same as your church telling you that you can't investigate your own beliefs, to listen to what critics are saying and to study for yourself if what you believe is true. In fact, we're told in the Bible to do this very thing, to search the Scriptures, to see if they're true. (See Acts 17:11)

Now, while Christians believe in prophets, that "God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets..." we believe the rest of the passage too, that "[He] hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son..." (Hebrews 1:1-2) In other words, we believe there WERE prophets in the past, but ever since Jesus came, those days are over. ("The law and the prophets  were until John." Luke 16:16) We're now in the "last days," and all He had to say has been recorded in the Bible. Not so for Mormons. In this, Mormons and Catholics are somewhat alike.

You see, for Mormons, the current "Living Prophet" in Salt Lake—also known as the "President" (isn't that ironic)—speaks for God today. While American catholics tend not to take their pope very seriously (as evidenced by their use of birth control not approved by their church), Mormons venerate their "Prophet." You should listen to Doug Wright on KSL radio (Salt Lake) the day after a Mormon General Conference. (A biennial meeting in Salt Lake where they get their marching orders.) This guy's in LOVE with the "living prophet." Until you've heard him, it's hard to fathom the devotion Mormons have to him. Mark your calendar and try to listen to him on the 'net the Monday after Conference. (He's on in the morning.)

The Mormon church on abortion

This post is already WAY too long (Amen?), and I already have this topic being readied for another post. Suffice it to say for now that the Mormon church does NOT consider abortion to be murder. That is consistent with their theology, as I'll document shortly. As a teaser, Brigham Young taught that the fetus isn't alive until the baby kicks. That's when, according to Mormonism, the spirit baby, from something they call the pre-existence, enters the body. ("When Baby Kicks, Spirit Enters the Body" Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses 18:258-9)

And those are some of the reasons you don't want a Mormon in the White House. Don't vote for Mitt Romeny. His brand of faith is Brand X. Don't buy it.
