To paraphrase Rush Limbaugh...
You know how Rush Limbaugh says he knows Liberals "like I know every square inch of my glorious naked body?"
Well, I won't go that far. But after almost two decades of evangelizing to Mormons, you learn a few things. My tag line will be, "I can read Mitt Romney like a book. The Book of Mormon, that is. Both are
constantly changing." (Pass it on.)
Mormon marriage - Traditional values? Or Extortion?
Anyway, Mitt Romney, probably as a subtle attack on Rudy Guiliani's marriages/divorces, has been harping lately about his 37 years of marriage to his (only one?) wife, Ann.
He's not going to be a very good god in the next life, if you allow the latest church position that polygamy is not required to be a god. How is he going to populate his planet in a reasonable time with only one wife cranking out spirit babies every 9 months?
Sounds good, being so monogamous, doesn't it? Traditional Conservative American values, right? But really, why has Ann stuck by her man so long?
Of course, it could be love. (But not in the agape sense.
That kind of true love only comes from the true God living in you. ) It could be money. Mitt Romney is a billionaire—with a B—you know. Or maybe, as with everything in Mormonism, there's something that doesn't meet the eye? Like Extortion.
So, when is your 50th "sealing" anniversary?
In the highest levels of Mormonism, you're not just married. That's for
us lowly gentiles, who will never become gods. In fact, our lowly marriages aren't good enough for the god of Mormonism.
According to Mormonism, we regular folk aren't married under "proper authority." Only the Mormon church has the keys to the kingdom of heaven.
What do you think about that, Catholics? No, in Mormonism, you are "sealed for all time and eternity" in a Mormon temple in a secret ceremony. (Your sealed for all eternity unless you're
Marie Osmond. Then it's okay to get divorced) They call it "
Celestial Marriage." Is that in your traditional American vernacular?
They don't even allow non-Mormon members of the family in to see the marriage ceremony! (But remember,
it's not secret. It's "sacred." Yeah, right.)
Ye shall be as goddesses?
And here's the kicker, the thing that keeps Mormon women in line, Stepford wife style. Especially Mormon women who swore the temple blood oath
before the 1990 changes, when Mormon wives swore obedience to their husbands. (That would be Ann Romney.) Mormon women are dependent on their husbands for eternal life. Not
Jesus, Their husbands.
Before 1990, they swore to their god that,
You and each of you solemnly covenant and promise before God, angels, and these witnesses at this altar that you will each observe and keep the law of your husband and abide by his counsel in righteousness.
And then, when women's rights became an issue, their god changed his mind. (Like he did when polygamy became an issue, and discrimination against Blacks became an issue.)
You see, in Mormonism, the husband is resurrected first. And then, if he decides, he calls his wife out. So she'd
better be good to him down here and do what he says. Or else, no
afterlife for her.
Stepford wife, step in line!
Can you say "mind control?" Is that why Mormon women put on such
a pretty facade? Could that be the reason Ann Romeny has stayed by her man all this time? Is all this stuff about marriage and sealings and the husband resurrecting his wife in your vocabulary? Are these traditional American values? Are they your values?
Don't vote for Mitt Romeny. He may believe his values are your values, and I suspect he wants to make HIS values be your values. But they're not. Don't put a Mormon in the White House. You don't know all the crazy cult stuff you'll be getting.
