Mitt Romney: "I Understand My Faith Better Than You Do." NOT!

Photo of Mormon secret handshake from Salt Lake Temple

Photo alluding to the "secret handshake" given inside the
Mormon temple, necessary to get into the highest Mormon heaven.
(From the Mormon temple in Salt Lake City, UT)

You need to know the secret password too.
(I don't know if they translate the passwords into other languages in their
temple ceremony movie in other countries or if their god speaks only English.)

The ususal complaint

I've never been a Mormon. Because of that, some of you (including Mitt Romney) may doubt my credibility as I try to warn you what Mormons believe and why you don't want a Mormon in the White House. You may claim, as did Mitt Romney,  "I understand my faith better than you do."

As this Mormon pro-Romney site claims, bashing Ken Woodward, a contributing editor for Newsweak magazine, for being an expert on Mormonism without having been Mormon himself.

But in the same breath they admit "Mr. Woodward seems generally to know his stuff. One hates to argue with him because he gets his facts pretty right."

So what's their beef? The truth?

As if never having been Mormon means I can't have read Mormon "scripture" or talked with Mormon missionaries or bishops. I can't have gone to a Mormon bookstore and bought the Missionary Training Lessons? Or I can't have obtained a copy of the Missionary Training Tapes (probably on DVD now) from a former  Mormon missionary? (He gave us his stuff after he read the Bible for himself and left the church for the true Christ.) You can even buy the Mormon underwear if you know how to ask. (But, no, I don't own a set.)

As Rush Limbaugh points out, a common Democrat ploy: You can't comment on something unless you've experienced it. Like I can't have an opinion on murdering the unborn unless I'm a woman who's had an abortion? I can't read the Koran and know Muslims are commanded to kill the infidels?

But I've told you before. Mormonism is inherently Liberal. So this mind set of theirs is expected.

The bishop's daughter says

Well, if you feel I can't know the truth about Mormonism because I was never in the cult, then how about a report from someone who WAS in the cult? I can't say it any better than this article: Can Mitt Romney Serve Two Masters? (But I have said it.) A former Mormon, a bishop's daughter, Tricia Erickson says all the things I've been trying to warn you about. And she should know. (No, I don't know her.) Here are some excerpts, but I encourage you to read her entire article.

CULT WARNING AHEAD!

If you're LDS, let me tell you what's going through your head right now to prove to you you're in a cult. (I can guess what you're thinking because you all think the same.)

You're thinking "Apostate." That this woman "never had a testimony." (Ewwww... aren't you being quick to judge? Did you ask her if she ever had a testimony?) Maybe you think she's been excommunicated for some bad sin. That she "hates the church?"

In other words, you're so convinced that the Mormon church is true, it's impossible for you to think anyone could have left "the One True church" because it's not true. That, basically, nothing this woman says could possibly be true. You'll come up with all sorts of dismissive, name calling arguments against her, rather than consider what she says.

I routinely question my Christian faith, because as the Apostle Paul said, if it's not true, I'm a fool for believing (and suffering) for it. If you have the truth, what are you so afraid of?

Months ago, I was watching Hannity and Colmes. Sean Hannity, who I have great respect for, said something to the effect that "No one should criticize Mitt Romney because of his faith". Well, Sean, you are one of my favorite people and 99% of the time, I agree with you, however, this time you were really wrong. Let me explain to you and the American people why Mitt's Mormon faith is precisely the reason why Americans should be deeply concerned.

When Mitt's Mormon faith is discussed in the media, the standard response is that John F. Kennedy had the same question posed to him regarding his presidency and John's answer was to assure the American people that the Pope would not be running the country. He assured the American people that his religion and allegiance to the Pope would remain separate from his office of the Presidency. [But Mitt Romney is no John Kennedy.]

Please hear what I am saying. I can assure the American public that this same assurance by Mitt Romney to the American public would not be the same. I can assure the American public that if Mitt Romney were to make the same commitment, it would be disingenuous and not to be trusted.

Let's look at Mitt's chameleon tendencies. Mitt is a former supporter of gay unions and abortion. However, in order to qualify as a "conservative", he has changed his position on both issues. From Mitt's perfectly placed hair style, to his chiseled looks, to his humble mannerisms, Mitt is properly displaying the "image" that he has been brought up in the church so well to portray.

The spin masters of the church are proficient and seasoned at marketing and displaying the proper Mormon image in which to exhibit to the public. Mitt, his wife and children's apple pie, attractive, clean and wholesome image is the poster of what a Mormon family is taught to present. Mormon television commercials cast the clean and wholesome image of the smiling family that everyone wants to become a part of in their dreams. What could possibly be wrong with this picture?

A recent change in the Mormon marketing plan has been to claim that Mormons are Christians. This could not be further from the truth. Throughout the years of Mormon history, Mormons never called themselves "Christians" and prided themselves in their claim of "special knowledge" that others, including Christians, did not possess, as well as that the Mormon religion was the one and only true way to heaven. The purpose for this change in which, now, they claim to be Christian, is to mainstream themselves in to the appearance of Christianity in order to recruit unsuspecting Christians to their own religion which will bring 10% of the gross of their incomes to the Mormon Church.

Mitt Romney is a long standing, card carrying, temple Mormon. The Mormon temple is a place where only the most faithful followers of the Prophet and the religion are allowed to enter. In this place, Mormons participate in secret signs and rituals in which, up until the 1990's, they were sworn by oath to secrecy that if they revealed anything about these temple rituals, this act would be punishable by death. Here is the exact oath: "I will now explain the covenant and obligation of secrecy which are associated with this token, its name, sign and penalty, and which you will be required to take upon yourselves. If I were receiving my own Endowment today, and had been given the name of "John" as my New Name, I would repeat in my mind these words, after making the sign, at the same time representing the execution of the penalty: I, John, covenant that I will never reveal the First Token of the Aaronic Priesthood, with its accompanying name, sign, and penalty. Rather than do so, I would suffer my life to be taken."

Another of the secret oaths taken is to consecrate your time, talents and everything which the Lord has blessed you, or with which he may bless you, to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?.(do you understand this implication regarding the office of the Presidency of the United States?)

It is because of my former Mormon upbringing that I can speak to this issue with credibility. In order for you to make an informed judgment about whether Mitt Romney should be the President, you need to know what he believes. Here are just a few of many teachings that Mitt Romney, as well as, Orin Hatch and Harry Reid believe:

I recently heard that Mitt Romney said he believed in the virgin birth of the baby Jesus. I dare to say that Mitt may be misrepresenting his belief in the virgin birth of Jesus and may be continuing his pattern of pandering to say whatever will draw votes. Mormons are taught and believe that God came to earth and had sex with Mary to create Jesus.

So Sean, maybe after reading this, you may reconsider your statement about Mitt Romney's faith. I challenge everyone in the US to study and become informed about the beliefs of not only Mitt Romney, but all of the presidential candidates and what they stand for. We are living in dangerous times due to the threats to our very security in this country. We cannot afford to elect a president who is not equipped to discern the truth about his religion, or any aspect of any matters that must be handled in the office of the Presidency of the United States of America.

Mitt Romney knows about the New Jerusalem?

In addition to Mitt Romney giving false information about his church's teachings on the "virgin" birth of their jesus (well, okay, they DO say that their jesus was "born OF a virgin." Mary WAS a virgin before heavenly father came down and had sex with her), he is equally confused about his church's teachings on where his jesus will rule during the 2nd coming. From a devout and more honest Mormon critically reviewing an interview of Mitt Romney by George Stephanopoulos (doncha just live the Blogosphere?),
What Mitt Romney said about Jesus appearance at the Mount of Olives is correct. However, what he says about Christ not ruling in the United States is incorrect. Of this he says, "I understand, but that doesn't happen to be a doctrine of my church."

A flood of misinformation

This is typical of Mitt Romney. He'll diss you, saying "You haven't got that quite right," but never tell you where you're wrong. Or he's just wrong altogether.

Remember one of my early posts, where Mitt Romney said "the most unusual thing in my church is that we believe there was once a flood upon the earth...." ? Yeah, right.

If you can't be trusted in the small things

And so it goes. This is typical of Mormonism. Mormon missionaries are trained to tell you what you want to hear. ("Establish Commonality of Beliefs," a lesson from the Missionary Training tapes.) They justify this by saying

1) you're not ready for solid food and

2) the ends justifies the means. Once you're in their church, you'll thank them for whatever they had to do to get you in.

But if you can't trust Mitt Romney with the small things, why should you trust him with the large ones? Like the Presidency of the United States.

But go ahead. Vote for Mitt Romney. Put a Mormon in the White House. You won't know what you'll get, but one thing is for sure: You'll get a nice White Wash. And  if your really good, you may get a "firm handshake."

Please help me get the Word out, 'cause I can't do it all by myself.
