Mitt Romney's "Apostle" has a message for you

Mormon 'apostle" Quention L. Cook.

Meet one of the 12 Apostles!
Do you recognize him?
He's trying to tell you something about Mormonism.

A Perversion

When confronted with an inconvenient truth about the Mormon church, Mitt Romney's typical response has been  "You don't exactly have that doctrine right." (As with the Judy Woodruff interview, where she was exactly right.) But he never tells you exactly what you have wrong, conveniently obfuscating at that point, telling you to ask the church. [Even though Mitt Romney was a missionary for his church (where he conveniently avoided the draft) and was a bishop in his church. It's not like he couldn't tell you about his church.. if he had the truth.]

The Apostle Paul (a REAL Apostle) wrote, "And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets..." (1 Corinthians 12:28) So it's ironic that the Mormon church perverts that.

Instead of following the chronological order in the Bible, where apostles came first, followed by prophets, the Mormon church instead has made their 'living prophet' first. (Some guy in Salt Lake. Central leadership, the sure sign of a cult.). Then they feel they still have apostles (as in "The Twelve") who come second.

I wonder which one gets to play Judas?

Anyway, somewhat like the Catholic church, which (wrongly) believes in apostolic succession, the Mormon church not only believes in succession, they believe they still really have Twelve Apostles! (Hey, Catholics! What do you think of that? Their 'apostles' trump your cardinals!.)

They can believe what they want, and having a living prophet and 12 apostles all probably seems silly to you and me. But this next point is deadly serious.

Irresistible Calling

Mormons have this thing in their church they call a "calling." Basically, if anyone in the Mormon hierarchy higher than you tells you to do something, it's automatically considered a call from God. As if God himself is telling you to do something.

Try to think like a Mormon here and imagine you're in a cult. They have this guy in Salt Lake City that they feel is a "living prophet." They feel he speaks for their god on earth. That their godhood, not to mention their very salvation, depends on pleasing this guy and doing whatever he says. In the past, Mormons have murdered for their prophet.  As late as last year, two Colorado City peace officers (fundamental polygamist Mormons) lost their certification for holding their prophet over the law. It's a very powerful pull that's hard to fathom unless you've been there. (Did you see the TV show Mr. Monk joins a cult?) The presumption is that, even if your lowly Mormon bishop tells you to do something, it must have come from the living prophet. (Even though it didn't.)

Now, I've been trying to warn you about Mitt Romney. That he's conflicted. See, he's sworn this oath of allegiance to the Mormon church. To use EVERYTHING he has to build up the Mormon church and to set up a Mormon theocracy. That includes Mitt Romney's Presidency.

Now, listen to what newly appointed Mormon 'apostle' Quentin L. Cook is trying to tell you about callings.

When asked his feelings regarding his call as an Apostle, Elder Cook said, "It has been an overwhelming experience for me. In the Church we don't seek calls or have an expectation that calls should come to us, but NEITHER DO WE TURN DOWN CALLS WHEN THEY COME FROM A LOVING, FAITHFUL PROPHET."

Honey, it's the Living Prophet on the phone!

See my funny photo on this. When the red phone rings, will it be the 'Living Prophet' calling?"  (Actually, it was, if you read the story from the Beehive, above.)

How do you know that Mitt Romney won't be beholden to his 'Living Prophet?' Just because he says he won't? Yeah, and a radical Muslim Presidential candidate will tell you what you want to hear too. That Islam is a religion of peace and he loves infidels. [Michael Medved's argument that Mitt Romney didn't demonstrate this behavior when Governor of Massachusetts is pointless. For one, we don't know Mitt Romeny didn't or that he didn't try. It's not like he's going to blow a trumpet or anything and announce he answered a call. Two, if you're the Manchurian Candidate (a movie Mr. Medved has probably seen), you're not going to pull the trigger until you reach your goal - the Presidency. You would expect Mitt Romney to keep his powder dry until he is President.]

May I put you on hold?

How can you be sure Mitt Romney won't take that call? His Mormon apostle says he MUST!  "We do NOT turn down a call from the 'prophet.'"

CULT WARNING: As I update this entry, I see a bunch of comments left by Mormons. I haven't read them, but let me guess. They're going to tell me Mitt Romney would never violate his oath of office because of their (current) 12th Article of Faith, that they believe in being "subject to kings, and sustaining the law." I've already posted about that here in the update. In addition, do a Google search for Ted Stewart, a Mormon federal judge and see how well he upheld the law, sitting and ruling in two high profile cases directly involving the Mormon church..

(To be somewhat fair, Judge Stewart finally recused himself in 2005. But he broke the law nonetheless. And he owes his victims a few years of their lives and a ton of their money.)

But go ahead. Vote a Mormon in the White House. Elect Mitt Romney for President. Ignore what his own 'apostle' is plainly telling you.  Maybe you're not faithful to your vows, your wife, your duty. But Mitt Romney plainly is. You can be sure he will answer the call of duty.

But will it be to his church or our country? In his mind, they're one in the same. They may not be the same in your mind.

Know that the Jesus of the Bible is "anti-Mormon." Here's what he affirmed to the church at Ephesus 2000 years ago. His words are still timely for today.

I know that you cannot tolerate wicked men, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. (Rev 2:2)

Christian, I trust you're still testing men and not believing every spirit that claims to be of God.
