This will test the limits of "free speech" on Townhall. Let's see if they censor me from the site for this.
I'm calling for Christians to boycott Hugh Hewitt's upcoming book, which will presumably endorse, or at least argue for, Mormon Mitt Romney for President. Based on Mr. Hewitt's
history with a high level Mormon as well as other comments he's made, I presume he will argue why, despite the facts, he thinks it's okay to have a Mormon President. While you're certainly free to consider his propaganda, if it won't be free, then I urge you not to buy it. The point of a boycott is to express displeasure economically, and I urge you to help chastise him, helping him to see the light if possible.
Don't
worry - he will still sell at least 6 million copies, when (Mormon) church
leadership strongly "suggests" their members buy the book. For themselves
and for others. ("Makes a great gift!" - Think Book of Mormon
distribution.)
Why 6 million copes? Current church membership is said to be 12 million. (The
church always appends the number in Press Releases, as
if numbers proved they were true. But think Noah and the flood, where
only 8 were saved.) That's why I "prophesize" at least 6 million books
will be sold. If I call that right, then be warned about any other large numbers you see surrounding Mitt Romney. Do NOT assume he is popular among the "Gentiles." (The Mormon term for non-Mormons.)
The Mormon church often "baits the tip jar" like the Unions, sending (or, shall we say "encouraging") members to attend specific events. I personally have seen a Mormon temple open house where they bussed their own people in from other Wards to make their numbers and try to attract more people! So watch out when you see lots of books sold in favor of Mitt Romney or hear of lots of support or big crowds for him. As when a Democrat's book sells well, it's most likely faithful doing their duty. Be sure to ask anyone endorsing Mitt Romney if they're a member.
Most Townhall visitors probably know Hugh Hewitt. He is a
mainstay of Salem Radio (has an informative radio show) and is a darling
of the Townhall web site (posts a LOT). I can't keep up with the blogs, and I don't bother, but I do listen to his radio show fairly regularly. On his show a couple weeks ago, he
mentioned he was going to Utah on a Saturday to gather data for his
upcoming book. And before that, he mentioned he spent two hours talking with Mitt Romney, with whom Mr. Hewitt is clearly enamored and supports. But Mr. Hewitt doesn't get it.
Like listening to Bill Clinton talk on and on, nothing Mr. Hewitt (or Mitt Romney) says will make the Blue Dress go away. There are some fundamental facts that can't be ignored, facts that won't go away. Character matters and you
have to look into a man's spiritual beliefs (or religion) to know about his character. About how he thinks and how he will think. Truly, the question of religion ALWAYS comes up in elections, even if we think it "impolite" to ask. I just heard it again on Bill Bennett's show. Inquiring minds want to know. But don't be fooled.
We were fooled by Bill Clinton's claim to be a Christian. But "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven," and his actions denied his words. After 8 years of scum, weren't we all pleased that President Bush claimed to be a Christian and read the Bible daily? (IIRC, when challenged during the first Presidential campaign by some Lefty reporter on what he had read that morning, was able to answer "We're reading about Joshua, in Judges.")
Now, do you want someone running this country based on beliefs found in the Book of Mormon? (Although, in reality,
most present day LDS doctrine does not come from the BOM, which makes it even harder to know what he really believes and how he will react to a situation, say, involving Israel.) Character matters, and spiritual beliefs are an inseparable part of character. Or should be. You wouldn't want an atheist or for President, would you? Even if he was an economic genius? Or how about
Ahmadinejad, even if he told you he loved us infidels? You need to know where a man is coming from, what his inner most convictions are.
For example, is it wrong to lie or is it okay to lie as long as it builds up your church? Ask an older Mormon from Utah about the 3D's - "Date 'em, Dunk 'em, Ditch'em" - a cruel, heartless way the younger single women do their part to increase church membership. (Dunk 'em refers to getting the naive, trusting convert baptized.) I hope you know the verse in Numbers that the Judeo-Christian God "is not a man, that He should lie."
But the god of Mormonism was a man, and IS basically still a man, a finite being who "
has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man's." (He is so human, he is busy having sex with his countless wives to provide spirits for all those on earth.)
Ask a Mormon - or Mitt Romney - about the teaching Christians find most despicable, about becoming a god someday. Missionaries are taught at the
MTC (Missionary Training Center) that this question offends us and so, like good politicians, they tell us what we want to hear. (Although they still don't get it. The usual response is, "We have the
potential to become gods someday.") Speak of the devil... Mitt Romney knows there are differences between his jesus and the Christian Jesus - even his so-called "Living Prophet"
acknowledges this. And yet, he knowingly, willfully persists in telling you what you want to hear. That "jesus christ is my savior." He's being deceptive. Why doesn't he just come out and repeat what his leader has said. "The
traditional Christ of whom
they speak is not the
christ of whom
I speak." Why doesn't he report and let us decide?
While Mr. Hewitt claims "I could never agree on theology" with Mormon Apostle Neal Maxwell (yes, an "Apostle." As in "The 12 Apostles." The Catholic church claims apostolic succession to Peter - the Mormon Church claims it still has the Apostles!), he says "we became good friends." Mr. Hewitt, an elder in his own church (but not an 18 year old "elder," as in Mormonism. He is someone who is supposed to be of sound doctrine.) is ignoring God's commands in the Bible. He has unequally yoked himself. A REAL Apostle, the Apostle Paul commanded the liberal "believers" (?) of his day,
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
According to God, barring some last minute deathbed conversion, Mr. Hewitt's good friend Neal Maxwell is in hell because he rejected the One who died for his sins. (That Jesus is NOT the spirit brother of Lucifer.) Further, he doubtless made many "a child of hell." (As Jesus said of the Pharisees.) Certainly he was part of an organization that leads people on the wide road that leads to destruction. (And I don't mean polygamy, although that's an indicator.) He was an evil man. And Mr. Hewitt was "good friends" with him? That's contrary to God's command in Scripture. If Mr. Hewitt can't see this, what else can't he see?
Similarly, the Apostle Paul had earlier warned the licentious Corinthians, "Be not deceived: Evil companionships corrupt good morals."
Therefore, I suggest you take the Apostle Paul at his word and eschew Mr. Hewitt's book. According to God, Mr. Hewitt is deceived. Aside from the fact that there's little value in reading a book written by someone corrupted (Paul's words, not mine), we ought not condone his behavior by buying his book.
