A graphic from an actual Mormon lesson
(under Fair Use) titled
"Heavenly Father explains the plan of salvation"showing god (the god of this world) and some of his children in the Pre-existence.
(Notice everyone, including god, is white Anglo?)
I've taken the liberty at guessing who the first born (jesus) is
and, judging from what look to be horns,
who the second born, jesus' brother, Lucifer, is.(But where is heavenly mother and the other moms in this graphic?
They're eternally pregnant and eternally giving birth.)
Is it just me, or does the Mormon jesus look like a young Donny Osmond?
I'm so angry at Michael Medved today for indiscriminately swallowing and then regurgitating the typical Mormon pabulum on the radio, spinning their doctrine when it's uncomfortable. (Remember what Mormonism teaches: "
Never give meat when milk will do.") I'm so angry I just wanted to get something up fast.
A caller called in, asking why Mr. Medved was so comfortable with Mitt Romney, whose Mormonism teaches, contrary to Scripture, that their jesus and their lucifer (the devil) are brothers. Mr. Medved, an expert on Mormonism (NOT!), said defiantly that that wasn't true. But it is true. When it comes to Mormonism, Mr. Medved doesn't know what he's so confidently talking about. (Which is making me wonder about other things he so confidently talks about.)
Then, after a commercial break, Mr. Medved "corrected" himself, saying it's been explained to him (by whom? A Mormon? WHY SO TRUSTING, MR. MEDVED? Don't you know Mormons
lie for the Lord?), that it's been explained to him that Mormons believe we are ALL god's children. Literally. But I don't think Mr. Medved understands that last part.
Well, yeah, Mormonism does teach that there's this god-man they call "heavenly father." He has a bunch of wives. They live on a planet near the star
Kolob. They have sex. A lot. Constantly. "Heavenly father" keeps his wives constantly pregnant, for he has to supply spirits for this world. (6 billion on the planet so far. That's not including all the people who have ever lived.)
The offspring of these spirit parents are spirit children in something Mormons call a Pre-existence. In a reincarnation rehash, the spirits who were "
more valiant" (however that's defined) in the pre-existence are the ones who do not come to earth as Blacks,
may come to earth mentally retarded (so they don't have to do anything to earn their godhood) and, of course, are LDS. (Being born into an LDS family shows you were especially valiant in the pre-existence.) So, yes, it is true that Mormonism teaches that everyone is literally a child of their god. (Although which mother is not known.) This is NOT what the Bible teaches.
God, in the Bible, says that, since Adam sinned, we're all born children of the devil ... in a figurative sense. (See
John 8:44 where Jesus tells the Jews trying to kill Him that they are children of the devil.) There is no need to take these verses literally because there is no literal sex in heaven. The God of the Bible does not have a body of flesh and bone as tangible as man's. He is spirit. (John 4:24) Nor are there wives in heaven.
We are only "children of God" in the sense that God is our Creator. (See
Malachi 2:10 for the clearest proof text on this.)
When we die to sin and are "born again" of the spirit, THEN we, figuratively, become children of God. (If the Mormon way was true, then how could Jesus give those who believe in His name the "right" to BECOME children of God? (
John 1:12) That doesn't make sense if we're all already literal children of heavenly father.)
If you're a Christian, you should know this.
How does that negate the caller's statement that Mormonism teaches that Jesus and Lucifer are brothers? That God and the devil are related by birth? Is that what the Old Testament teaches? As the caller said, in Mormonism, jesus and lucifer ARE literally brothers.
You know, all Mr. Medved has to do is to google the three words, Jesus Lucifer brothers. As of this writing, the 4th hit is from
a Mormon apologetics page. They try to spin the doctrine, claiming that the Christian church has always believed Jesus and the Devil are brothers.
In regards to Lucifer being specifically the 'brother of Jesus,' we can look to the Evangelical Christian theologian, H.L. Martensen. He believed that Lucifer was "Christ's younger brother, and became God's adversary because he was not content to be second, but wanted to be first; because he was unwilling to bear the light of another, and wanted to be the light itself."
This idea is not new. In fact, Lactantius, a Latin Christian Father of the third century, taught the following: "Before creating the world, God produced a spirit like himself, replete with virtues of the Father. Later He made another, in whom the mark of divine was erased, because this one was besmirched by the poison of jealousy and turned therefore from good to evil. He was jealous of his older brother who, remaining united with the Father, insured his affection
unto himself."
I submit the rhetorical question that—aside from the fact that the LDS doctrine is both scripturally and logically sound—if Gaebelein, Martensen, Lactantius, and others, could teach such a doctrine and still remain Christian, then how can members of the Church of Jesus Christ be branded as un-Christian for holding a similar belief?
Christian, is this what you believe? I don't think even the Jewish people believe this. At the very least, Mr. Medved, a Jew, should be vehemently arguing for the 2nd Commandment. Do NOT reduce the infinite Creator God to a finite being. Don't even THINK about how you would cast the infinite into a finite graven image or any
likeness of any created thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth.
But that's exactly what the Mormons have done. They have taken the infinite one and only God of the Universe ("Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.")and made their god into our image. They have reduced the infinite God to a puny little man. And a polygamous one at that.
ARRRRRRRGH!
Mr. Medved claims that Ron Paul has White Supremacist (i.e.
Christian Identity) supporters and wants him to distance himself from them. But the Mormon church shares similar traits. The Mormon church is primarily White Anglo-Saxon and teaches they the truest Jews.
Our particular branch is the House of Joseph through his son Ephraim. That is the group from whence shall come the majority of the candidates for celestial glory.
So why doesn't Mr. Medved insist that Mitt Romney distance himself from Mormonism and return all Mormon money?
Don't listen to Michael Medved about Mitt Romney and Mormonism. Google for yourself. When it comes to Mormonism, Mr. Medved doesn't know what he's talking about. Apparently, he's just repeating what he's fed by Mormons.
And that's a real shame for someone who has "the sixth most listened to talk show in America today."
