The good news is, I haven't heard the word "bigot" - as in religious bigot, a pejorative used to squelch those of us who know about Mormonism and Mormons, who don't want a Mormon (Mitt Romney) for President - I haven't heard the word used on Hugh Hewitt's (or Michael Medved's) show since
I complained about it back in December.
The bad news is, those who claim to be on the Right are still using tactics from the Left in an attempt to demonize Mitt Romney's critics.
The latest is found on Hugh Hewitt's blog. Just as the homosexuals coined the word "homophobe" to label anyone who, like God, considers homosexuality a sin and who, like God, finds it abhorrent, slandering them (and God) as "homophobes" to make them "politically incorrect," branding them as "hateful" (
doubleplus ungood), so the post on Mr. Hewitt's blog does the same with Mr. Brian Camenker, a critic of Mitt Romney's politics.
We're told in the first paragraph that Mr. Camenker's group, MassResistance.org, "is on the verge of being a 'hate' group." That's a sophist trick called
poisoning the well. But, you know, we should ban all hate groups. Never mind that pesky 1st Amendment. Whomever your or I deem as hateful shouldn't be allowed to speak, right? That would be you, if you disagree with me. In fact, maybe we should ban Hugh Hewitt's blog for being hateful for suggesting someone is in a hate group?
While Mr. Hewitt did not write the post using this Leftist tactic - it's written instead by a Mr. Dean Barnett, who co-blogs with Mr. Hewitt - I must assume, since it's Hugh Hewitt's blog, with Hugh Hewitt's name on it, that any post written by Mr. Barnett is done with the full knowledge, blessing and consent of Mr. Hewitt and therefore is condoned by Mr. Hewitt and represents his views. (The Buck stopping here.) How sad.
From what I've gleaned from years of listening to Mr. Hewitt on his radio show, Mr. Barnett's philosophy mirrors Mr. Hewitt's - both about politics AND about homosexuality. That is, there's a partition in his mind between "politics" and "morality," as if the two are mutually exclusive. Plus, there's a total disconnect from what God says about homosexuality. (Read the last Chapter of Romans 1, starting with verse 18 to the end. Homosexuality is a result of God giving those who reject Him over to their own vices.)
For example, here's what Mr. Barnett, and presumably Mr. Hewitt, deem as Mr. Camenker's sin:
For Brian Camenker and a handful of others, opposing Newton’s sex-ed program became a
moral crusade. [There's another fallacy here.
Did you spot it?]
Brian opposed anything that the schools might do that taught tolerance
for homosexuals, not on the practical ground that scarce resources for
education should be used solely for, you know, education, but rather on
a
"moral" ground that
teaching tolerance for homosexuality was somehow
immoral. [And yet
another fallacy.]
Oh, yikes. Teaching tolerance for sin isn't immoral? So we can't have morality in politics? Actually, we do have morality in politics. In the public school case above, it's the "morality" of the homosexual!
Apparently Mr. Hewitt, Mr. Barnett and at least
one of you have forgotten what
President Reagan said:
“...politics and morality are inseparable. And as morality’s
foundation is religion, religion and politics are necessarily related.”
President Reagan was correct. You cannot separate the two. The absence of morality in politics is not really a separation of morality from politics, but it is really the morality of humanism, the religion of atheism and is defacto anarchy. There is no right/wrong, good/evil no black/white. Isn't this exactly what the Left preaches? (I'm reminded of the saying that "People who won't take a stand, stand for nothing.")
As Leftist - and as dangerous - as Mr. Hewitt's cohort's "argument" is, in that he sets himself up as the arbiter of who can come to the table and who can't,
But the fact that Camenker is so infuriated by the charges he lists
should disqualify him from a seat at the Grownups’ Table of civilized
political discourse.
at least he affirms that Mr. Camenker has his facts right. Of the report he says,
Indeed, most of it is factually correct.
Ahhh... the old Left mantra: Don't confuse me with the facts. [Speaking of Grownups, did you notice how Mr. Barnett had to resort to another Leftist trick, using ridicule? Now that's a mature, well reasoned argument. And he's circular too, defining "civilized" for us. I don't think he's being very civil.]
That is consistent with Mormonism. You show Mormons the facts - that the Book of Mormon is NOT true; that Joseph Smith is NOT a true prophet; and therefore that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints cannot be true, and their response is, "I don't care about the facts. I've prayed about it and I feel it's true.
Is Mr. Barnett really a Conservative? Is he a Christian? He sounds more like a Mormon than a Christian. From his post, he neither seems to reason like a Conservative or reason like God, as a Christian should. (Per the command in
Romans 12:2) As Mr. Barnett said, "I'll let you be the judge."
As to politics, the MassResistance report is correct: Mitt Romney is a Liberal. It's wrong to assassinate the messenger.
As to morality, you will ALWAYS have someone's morality influencing politics and government. Either it will be the god of the Muslims, the God of the Christians, or the god of self, the god of the humanist homosexual / ACLU types. Or the god of the Mormons.
I choose the God of the Christian's and HIS morality. Don't elect Mitt Romney for President. And watch out for those who claim to be on the Right who endorse Mitt Romney, but disparage those who don't. Like those on the Left, they do not deal in facts, but fiction. As Mr. Hewitt said the other day, "Clarity is a wonderful thing." Too bad some on the right are muddying things up.
