Liberal Mitt Romney: "...depends on what the meaning of the word 'at' is."

Okay, okay, as I wrote before, just as Mitt Romney didn't really sing "Oh, little town of Jerusalem," he didn't really make this Clintonesque statement that "it depends on what the meaning of the word 'at' is." But he could have.

A Mormon brother of his, responding to my post, said it for him. Really, people, when you read in a book "And behold, he [Jesus] shall be born of Mary, AT Jerusalem..." what do YOU take that to mean? As Rush Limbaugh says, "words have meaning." Don't Christians and Conservatives take words at their face value? Didn't we roll our eyes at Clinton's stupid weaselly statement about the meaning of the word "is"? But this Mormon, trying to redefine the meaning of the word "at,"  writes,

From dictionary.com

1.(used to indicate a point or place occupied in space); in, on, or NEAR (emphasis added)

So "at" is not necessarily just in a place but can also be used to define something near a place.

So, just like watching Liberals on Hannity & Colmes confuse the issue, making silly arguments like Bill Clinton over the the basic meaning of words, so Mormons similarly confuse issues and change the meaning of words. (Do you ever tell someone you live in Murray AT Salt Lake City? Rather don't you say, NEAR Salt Lake City?)

Since Mormonism is a cult it's a sure bet Mitt Romney thinks in this same confused way too. (Although as we've seen from the video Mitt Romney and Mormonism, his plan is to tell you you're wrong but not tell you why.  What? Doesn't he want you to know the truth? I thought the truth set you free?)

[As an aside, here's a fun experiment for you non-Mormons (or even Mormons) to prove to you that Mormonism is a cult. Skip down to the outdent to get back on topic.

I was torn whether I should have said in the post about Jerusalem what the standard, predictable Mormon response would be. It's always the same, as Mormon CBA-Paul correctly regurgitated it. (Although most Mormons say Bethlehem is seven miles from Jerusalem, not six.)

Here's the experiment: Mention to a Mormon acquaintance of yours that you read this blog and learned that the Book of Mormon says in Alma 7:10 that (their) jesus was born in Jerusalem. Ask them, "Wasn't Jesus born in Bethlehem?"

Without exception, they'll all give you this six - seven mile "it doesn't matter" explanation. Clintonizing the meaning of the word "at," they'll say, in effect, that the most correct book on earth is "close enough."

(If they're a recent convert and don't know the standard answer, they'll run to their bishop and get it.)

The fact that they'll all give you the exact same answer is one characteristic of a cult.

Of course, aside from the fact that words mean things, that "at" means at, and that that God got Jesus' birthplace correct in the Bible (but Joseph Smith got it wrong), you're smart enough not to buy their silly argument. Even the wise men, who first stopped AT Jerusalem were told to go to Bethlehem!

And you see, they didn't have cars in Jesus' day. I did missionary work in Kanab, UT and Fredonia, AZ, two  small towns separated by about seven miles. While only eight minutes by car, seemingly close, I had to walk the distance one day. We've forgotten that seven miles is a two hour trip on foot! Quite a journey! So Bethlehem is not as near to Jerusalem as Mormons lead you to believe.

Lastly, when Herod murdered the babies, it didn't happen AT Jerusalem.

Wouldn't it be easier to admit that the Book of Mormon is wrong and that maybe Joseph Smith is not a true prophet?]

Getting back to my point, the Clintonesque statements you always hear from Mormons demonstrate that Mormons in general, and Mitt Romney specifically, are RINO's. Liberals at heart in Conservative clothing.

Mormons may claim Conservative values... sometimes... when convenient, but their foundation is built on shifting sand, not on the Rock. As a conservative from Michigan notes, Mitt Romney is really a Liberal. He thinks, talks and acts like a Liberal, while claiming to be Conservative. While that may be true of other "Republican" candidates, at least they're candid enough to tell you what they really believe. (Giuliani. Of course, McCain's a Liberal too, but I think you all know that.)

But like the Liberal Salt Lake denomination of the Mormon church, Mitt Romney's beliefs are constantly changing, just like his god. (Polygamy a requirement, now it's pooh-poohed. Blacks under a curse, not inherit the priesthood until all Whites first. Now they can.) He has no core values, which is part of the definition of being Conservative. This leads to double mindedness, like "a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed."

For example, here's Dick Morris' column about how Mitt Romney, like John Kerry, has flip flopped on murdering the unborn. (Like Ted Kennedy too,) Here's an excerpt:

Mitt Romney, who was pro-life and then switched to pro-choice when he ran to become Massachusetts governor and now is switching back again as he runs for president? The Mitt Romney who said "I will protect and defend the right of Massachusetts women to choose?" The Romney who has flip-flopped on gay issues? Will the right wing back him? No way.

Look, if, before you became a Christian, you thought like I did once that an unborn baby (that they call a "fetus") was just a mass of tissue, then I can overlook your previous error and welcome your enlightened one. But Mitt Romney has been a Mormon all his life. He went on a mission. He either believes that the baby in the womb is alive or he doesn't, and it's not a trivial matter of simply saying, like his god, " I've become a little more conservative as the years have gone on." (As he stated on the Michael Medved show, Monday, January 8, 2006.) If it's murder to kill an unborn baby, it's always been murder.

Truth be known, Brigham Young taught  that the fetus isn't alive until the baby kicks. That's when, according to Mormonism, the spirit baby, from something they call the pre-exsistence, enters the body. ("When Baby Kicks, Spirit Enters the Body" Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses 18:258-9)

Mitt Romney was truer to his religion when he thought it was okay to kill the baby, for according to Mormonism, it wasn't alive until it kicked. You see, your religious beliefs directly affect your "political" ones. But now, because he wants to be President, he's changed his tune. What makes you sure he won't change again as the years go on?

Bottom line: Salt Lake City Mormonism (the main line denomination) is liberal. It constantly changes to fit the times. You can see it manifest in their changing beliefs, in the way they think and the way they argue. Don't be fooled. Google around and see. Mitt Romney is a Liberal.
