A graphic from an actual Mormon publication.
titled "Heavenly Father explains the plan of salvation"
showing their god and some of his children in the Pre-existence.(Notice that everyone, including god, is white Anglo.
I took some poetic license and added one element to the graphic.
See my post below, about racism in Mormonism.)
I''m guessing who the first born (jesus) is
and, judging from what look to be horns,
who the second born, jesus' brother, Lucifer, is.
(But where is heavenly mother and the other moms in this graphic?
They're eternally pregnant and eternally giving birth.)
The issue
Michael
Medved is handling this correctly on his radio show right now
(Wednesday, December 12, 2nd hour). At issue is an AP story linked on
Drudge titled, "
Huckabee Questions Mormons' Belief." The full story is to appear in this Sunday's New York Times.
When once asked who controlled the media, Matt Drudge, without hesitation responded, "Oh, the AP."
As
much as the Internet, Drudge and the blogosphere have helped provide
more balanced reporting (as with my blog), the Left still controls much
of what we think.
Of course, as I finish this up, Hugh Hewitt,
defender of the Mormon faith,
has taken the quote totally out of context and did not do due
diligence, as Mr. Medved did. (Not very good for someone who's a
lawyer.) You really can't trust Hugh Hewitt when it comes to Mitt
Romney, as some callers are now pointing out now. (3rd hour.)
Mr.
Medved looked into this, and says the original source was a 15 page
story. There were only two sentences that mentioned Mormonism. The
reporter asked Mike Huckabee if he thought Mormonism was a cult or a
religion. Mike Huckabee answered "a religion."
And
then, almost as an afterthought, Mike Huckabee said he didn't know much
about Mormonism. He asked the reporter, who was knowledgeable in comparative religions, "Don't Mormons believe that
Jesus and the devil are brothers?"
Proud of my faith, unless you hit on truth
Now,
we'll go to the Mormon church's own website to document what the Mormon
church teaches about this. But I'll tell you now. Yes, Mormonism
teaches that their jesus and the devil are brothers.
As
we'll see, the AP story is wrong to quote a non-church source. "The authoritative
Encyclopedia of Mormonism, published in 1992, does not refer to Jesus
and Satan as brothers. It speaks of Jesus as the son of God and of
Satan as a fallen angel, which is a Biblical account." I wonder if that particular AP reporter is Mormon?)
While
it's true that the Biblical account is that the Jesus of the Bible has
always been God and created EVERYTHING (did not merely "organize" existing matter,
as Mormonism teaches) and that the Jesus of the Bible created angels,
as part of "everything," and while the Bible teaches that Satan is
nothing more than a fallen angel, destined for hell, that is NOT what
the Mormon church teaches, as I'll document from the church's own web
site.
You know, I'm not smart enough to be a "journalist" like the reporters at the AP, but 1) the
Encyclopedia of Mormonism
is published by some folks at BYU, not the Mormon church 2) it is at
best a wiki like compendium of opinion. To wit, "the vast majority of
the contributors are themselves Latter-day Saints. Seeing the Mormons
and their tradition through their own eyes... " That is, it is not an
official organ of the Mormon church. So why quote it?
In fact, in a classic display of double mindedness, not even the
opinions published by church scholars in the Mormon church's own publication
The Ensign can legally be considered authoritative. At one time, they used to carry the disclaimer that "
Questions of general interest answered for guidance, not as official statements of church policy"
even though The Ensign is an "An Official Magazine Of The Church Of
Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints."
Nothing like taking a hard line
when you have the truth. You know, Mormons claim to have a living
prophet. Can't he discern truth from fiction? But such is the maze of Mormonism.
Now, Mitt Romney is constantly saying that he's
proud of his faith. And yet, according to a second AP story (
Romney: Attacks on Religion Go Too Far,) Mitt Romney said on NBC's Today show "attacking someone's religion is really going too far." Isn't this the guy who offered that he believes in "god," "jesus" and EVERY word (NOT!) of the Bible?
Asking a question is an attack?
Even when the answer to the question is "Yes, that's what I believe?"
This is so typical of the Mormon cult. "Woe is us.
We're so persecuted. (So we must be true.)"

Here's
a link from a random Mormon caller saying the same thing. Everyone
hates us. So we must have the truth. (Or we're deceiving ourselves?
Nah.) Audio clip from
The Charles Goyette Show, KNFX, December 11, 2nd hour.
Note that Suzanne is from Gilbert, AZ,
a Mormon enclave.
But if Mitt Romney has the truth, as Ben Stein has asked, "
What are they so afraid of?"
But look at the Mormon spokeslady's answer.
A
spokeswoman for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints said
Huckabee's question is usually raised by those who wish to smear the
Mormon faith rather than clarify doctrine. [See "everyone hates us"
above. Let's poison the well, attack the questioner instead of dealing directly with the issue.]]
"We believe, as other Christians believe and as Paul
wrote, that God is the father of all," said the spokeswoman, Kim Farah.
"That means that all beings were created by God and are his spirit
children. Christ, on the other hand, was the only begotten in the flesh
and we worship him as the son of God and the savior of mankind. Satan
is the exact opposite of who Christ is and what he stands for."
Just like Bill Clinton
So, was that a "yes?" Did you think that was a direct answer? Do you, as
Mitt Romney told Jan Mickelson, have to read this like a lawyer?"
Let
me parse this convoluted, confusing statement from Kim Farah for you.
(Ironic, because Mormons are fond of saying "Confusion is from the
devil.")
First, Mormonism is NOT Christian. They have a different jesus than the Jesus of the Bible.
Christians
do NOT believe that the God of the Bible is the "father of us all" in
the sense she means it. As per the photo at the top of this post, the
god of Mormonism (his name is Elohim)
has a body of flesh and bone, as tangible as any man's. He is also white. He has sex with his many wives to birth us. THAT'S what Mormons are thinking when they say their god is the "father of us all." Is that what you believe?
According to God, we are only "children of God" in the sense that God is our Creator. (See
Malachi 2:10 for the clearest proof text on this.)
In fact, in
John 8:44, Jesus told the Jews who were trying to murder Him that they were children of the devil! Sadly, quite a lot of Christians fall for the unBiblical saying that "we are all god's children." That is not true.
Jesus also pointed out that the devil is the father of lies and we speak what we hear our father speak. If you are born again, then you have a new Father and you can speak the truth. If you are still dead in your sins, they you are still a slave to the devil and to sin. (See Romans Chapter 6.)
This is NOT the God of the Bible. I trust you know that the God of the Bible is spirit (
John 4:24) and is NOT a puny little man (
Numbers 23:19)
who is accountable to some "council of gods'" (Where did they all come
from?) I worship the first and only God. This lowering of God to a puny little man makes a mockery of the 2nd of the
Ten Commandments: Don't even THINK about reducing the Holy, Infinite,
Creator God to a mere finite creature.
The God of the Bible is not a polygamist. He's not married to even one wife. He is not having sex in heaven and we are NOT his literal children. (And, as I said above, we are not his children until we are born again. See John 1:12.)
She does not really mean
we were all "created" by God in the sense that Christians mean it. What
she means is that their god and his many wives had sex and you were
born. If you normally say your parents "created" you, that's fine. But that's not normal usage. That's playing games like the Clintons. But this is the typical
subterfuge Mormons use. So watch out with Mitt Romeny.
She is
correct to use the term "spirit children" Is that in your Christian
vernacular? Mormons believe that both their jesus and their lucifer
were born as spirit children in something they call a "pre-existence."
(Don't worry. I've documented this above, at the link to the photo and will document this below from the church's own web site.)
When
she says that Mormons believe their jesus was the "only begotten in the
flesh" she means that Elohim came to earth and had sex with Mary.
From the Mormon church web site:Jesus Christ is the Son of God in the most literal sense. The body in which He performed His mission in the flesh was SIRED by that same Holy Being we worship as God, our Eternal Father. He was not the son of Joseph, nor was He begotten by the Holy Ghost.
[But that's what God says in the Bible. Mormons will argue here that
"Then he would be the son of the Holy Ghost. They don't understand the
concept of the Triune God.] He is the Son of the Eternal Father!
When
Mormons say that their jesus is the son of god, they REALLY mean he's a
son. Their god is his dad, because he impregnated Mary. Mary WAS a virgin before the Mormon god entered her, but is was not a "virgin birth." Hey, Catholics,
what do you think of that? (And Mormonism says it's the one true
church.)
She is lying when she says Satan is the exact opposite
of who Christ is. In Mormonism, they are brothers. In Mormonism, they
both offered plans of salvation. If it weren't for the 'fact' (and I
use the term loosely) that their heavenly father decided to go with
their jesus' plan, we would all be worshiping Lucifer. In Mormonism jesus and lucifer are not that different, and who knows? On some planets, the god of that world might have gone with lucifer's plan.
How to find the truth
You
know, this isn't hard. You don't have to be an AP journalist. You don't
have to ask Hugh Hewitt, self proclaimed expert on Mormonism. You
don't have to pray about it.
All you have to do is go to the
Mormon church web site. They have a search box right there on their home page.
Type in the words
Jesus Lucifer brothers
(It's really not hard. You don't have to be a "Jouralist" to do it.)
As of this writing (until they change it)
the 1st hit is:
HOW CAN JESUS AND LUCIFER BE SPIRIT BROTHERS WHEN THEIR CHARACTERS AND PURPOSES ARE SO UTTERLY OPPOSED?
Jess L. Christensen, “I Have a Question,” Ensign, June 1986, 25–26
Jess L. Christensen, Institute of Religion director at Utah State University, Logan, Utah.
On first hearing, the doctrine that Lucifer and our Lord, Jesus Christ, are brothers may seem surprising to some—especially to those unacquainted with latter-day revelations. [Ahhh.... so "never give meat when milk will do" We don't want to scare away potential converts by telling them what we REALLY believe.] But
both the scriptures and the prophets affirm that Jesus Christ and
Lucifer are indeed offspring of our Heavenly Father and, therefore,
spirit brothers.
I can't say it any better than that. That's from the Mormon church. It's what the Mormon church teaches and what all worthy Mormons believe.
But
go ahead. Vote a Mormon in the White House. Vote Mitt Romney for
President. He will be like Bill Clinton all over again. You will HAVE
to parse everything he says. Not even the Mormon church spokeswoman can
speak the truth plainly. That is why you don't want a Mormon in the
White House.
