You could hear the pride (and joy) in Hugh Hewitt's voice last week every time he talked about his boy Mitt Romney and how much money he pulled in on his first day of campaigning.
Parenthesis: How much of that came from Mormons or Mormon organizations? No one knows and there's no real way to know.
I warned you this would happen. DON'T be like a lemming and fall for the hype. (Kind of a pun.) Remember what your mom told you. "If everyone jumped off a bridge, would you do it too?" Just because Mormons contribute to Mitt Romney doesn't mean you should too.
Mr. Hewitt mentioned Mitt Romney no less than five times last week! (January 8 - 12) Once on Monday, once on Tuesday, TWICE on Wednesday, and again on Friday. (Technically six times, since there was a passing comment on Thursday, but I'm ignoring that.) He's giving Mitt Romeny THREE mentions on today's show as we speak!) You can't buy this kind of PR on "Conservative" radio, although I fear it will cost some souls.
God gives a clear warning in the Bible to Christians about whom to unite with:
"Do
not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and
wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with
darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a
believer have in common with an unbeliever?
I trust you
Christians understand the Apostle Paul's - a REAL Apostle - questions are
rhetorical, and the answer is a resounding "NONE!" If you're really a mature Christian, what could you possibly have in common with a Mormon? It's like being married to an unbeliever. What deep, meaningful conversations can you have together about your Lord?
If you believe the God of the Bible, then their church leads people to h*ll! They are NOT going to be gods some day. That's blasphemy to Christians. (And Jews. And even Muslims!)
Mr. Hewitt claims to be a Christian and is an elder in his church. But Jesus warned
that not everyone who claims to be a Christian is a Christian. (Matthew
7:21) Remember the Apostle John's - a REAL Apostle - test for Christianity:
The man who says, "I know him," but DOES NOT do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
Just so you know I'm not out of order, I've warned Mr. Hewitt about this via email. But Mr. Hewitt persists in befriending and endorsing Mitt Romney for President. (Same comment for the young man who's unequally yoked himself writing the Article 6 blog.)
I'm glad I'm not the only one to see the duplicity. Fortunately, last week,
'Peeps' at fraters libertas suggested Mr. Hewitt should just go ahead and admit he's endorsing Mitt Romney. He certainly seems like a shill for Mitt Romney - you NEVER hear him say anything against Mitt Romney or tell us the gruesome details about Mormonism, even though he claims to understand it well. (He once chided an ex-Mormon caller on his radio show for describing himself as a "Recovering Mormon." Hey, can't the ex-Mormon tell us about himself without Mr. Hewitt's censorship?) Fortunately, Chad the Elder at
fraters is doing a good job of objectively tracking Mr. Hewitt's obvious blog bias.
By the way, did you know that one of Mr. Hewitt's call screeners is Mormon? (As of a few months ago anyway.) I know because I have an email from Mr. Hewitt confirming it. An ex-Mormon, now Christian friend of mine tried to call in, correcting some things that were said about the Mormon church, only to be told by the Mormon call screener that she was 'hateful." How's that for objectiveness? If Mr. Hewitt wants to truly be objective, he should 1) in the interest of full disclosure tell us that one of his screeners is Mormon, and 2) not let that screener screen calls on days when Mormonism is the topic.
It's ironic that Mr. Hewitt used the word "weaselly" to describe Senator McCain last week. You should have heard Mr. Hewitt squirm on Friday, January 5, as he retorted that he is NOT endorsing Mitt Romney, but simply "comparing his preseason rankings," implying he (Mr. Hewitt) is an objective observer. Oh yeah?
Unlike an objective commentator, Mr. Hewitt has a horse in this race. He is writing a book about Mitt Romney! He's going to make money off of Mitt Romney! He has invested six months of his life gathering data, flying back and forth to Boston to talk to his good friend Mitt Romney. (Despite that pesky command from God again. Remember what Paul also warned? "Bad company corrupts good character.")
To continue Mr. Hewitt's football analogy, if a college scout had this kind of involvement in a player he tracked and submitted, he'd be fired for having a vested interest. Talk about weaselly.
Hugh Hewitt is blind and painting a distorted picture of Mitt Romney. He's not painting Mitt Romney "warts and all." And I'm not the only one on the Right saying so.
I encourage you to search the new media for yourself to get the complete picture of Mitt Romney. I encourage you to not vote for Mitt Romney. He's not who he appears to be.
